TOPIC: Mental Health at Work
SYNOPSIS:
May was Mental Health Month and June is Men’s Mental Health Month. What is the safety and health professional’s role in dealing with mental health issues in the workplace? We are not expected to be therapists; we are asked to Recognize, Respond, and Refer.
This whole presentation comes down to three words: Notice, Listen, Connect. Managers don’t need clinical training to make a real difference. They need to spot baseline changes, open the door with care, refuse to promise secrecy over safety, and route people to help that already exists.
