TOPIC: Value of a Learning Culture
SPEAKER: Geoff Cislo, Director HSSE, Commonwealth LNG

JOIN US on August 13th as we hear from Matt Marapode on “Value of a Learning Culture”. Geoff will be asking the participants to challenge status quo and 1. Acknowledge we will make errors and if accepted 2. We can either learn and improve or blame and punish, but we cannot do both. With this acceptance, we explore what a learning culture looks like and the value return.
Geoffrey Cislo is a senior Environment, Safety, and Health (ESH) leader with 35 years of global experience driving safety performance, risk reduction, and organizational improvement across the oil and gas, mining, telecom, and nuclear sectors. He has held leadership roles with Bechtel, Hess, Chevron, JMJ, and Caturus, and currently serves as Director HSSE for Commonwealth LNG. Known for building trusted partnerships, aligning leaders and workforce teams around shared safety goals, and advancing performance-based safety cultures grounded in learning, accountability, and Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles. His leadership emphasizes safe work planning, data-informed decision-making, and sharing learnings from normal work to strengthen execution and prevent serious incidents. He holds a Master of Public Health from Tulane University, a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management and Industrial Hygiene from Ferris State University, and is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
