ASSP & AIHA Gulf Coast Meeting

  • June 2, 2022
    11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Topic Panel Discussion: Workplace Noise – The Loud, Long-Term Hazard

Moderator Vivek Patel CIH, CSP

Panel Members will be local leaders in safety and health.

The Gulf Coast of Texas is home to many different industries from petrochemical to transportation & logistics to healthcare. Even though many safety professionals and industrial hygienists don’t always work in the same industry they are still common issues they face. One such issue is Noise. It is ubiquitous in our worksites – nearly 22 million US workers are exposed to noise at work. It is difficult to control and often takes its toll on the human body in a slow and stealthy way.

This June meeting, we will have a new format – a moderated Panel, but will also welcome comment and discussion from the AIHA/ASSP audience to contribute to a dynamic discussion about Noise in the workplace. The forum will cover sub-topics related to such as:

  • Hearing Conservation Programs
  • How can you tell the workplace is too loud?
  • Noise from workplace vs outside factors
  • Effects of noise on workers (communication, stress, etc.)
  • Technologies to measure or mitigate noise
  • Instituting behavior change to help prevent noise exposure

  • 11:00am – Networking and Lunch
  • 11:30am – Introductions and Pledge of Allegiance
  • 11:35am – ASSP Updates
  • 11:50am – AIHA Updates
  • 12:00pm – Presentation
